Cold weather is around the corner and, consequently, not only ice and snow debris, but also wind and rain are starting to be noticed on the road. Driving a truck under these conditions is not an easy task, therefore, it is of the utmost importance not to lower our guard.

Road goods transporters need to be extremely cautious and, therefore, follow a series of recommendations so that road accidents are not suffered. What is more, apart from personal injuries, damages to goods also need to be considered since we are the ones responsible for its preservation. Whatever happens to goods, be it delays in delivery or mishaps affecting the cargo, it is us who will be liable to customers for any inconvenience.

Below are some recommendations for you to consider:

-         Careful with start-ups: start the engine and leave the car idling for a few minutes so that it achieves the right temperature without being forced.

-         Turn on the lights: in winter there are less daylight hours, therefore, turning on the lights will make the journey much comfier.

-         Hold the steering wheel firmly: this is crucial since whatever sudden move, due to ice or snow debris, can make us lose control of the vehicle.

-         Reduce speed: under unfavourable weather conditions wheels adhere less to the road, that is why slowing down your vehicle can help you prevent an accident.

-         Follow the tyre marks on the road made by other vehicles. Doing it this way, you will be able to follow the right path to reach your destination successfully.

-         Increase the safety distance: in winter the field of view is reduced, roads are much more slippery and, consequently, it takes longer to stop, even if you have hit the brakes in great advance.

-         Do not use cruising speed. When weather conditions are unfavourable, it is better to have full control of the vehicle.
