How to manage unexpected issues in transport: key strategies to avoid affecting the client

No logistics operation is free from unexpected events. From sudden mechanical breakdowns to blocked access points or delayed loads, road transport involves many variables that are out of our control. But what we can control —and at Transports Porqueres we do this every day— is how we respond.

Here are some of the key strategies we apply so that the client barely notices anything went wrong:

1. Anticipation in planning

A solid route plan goes beyond the estimated time. We assess high-risk areas, traffic patterns, weather forecasts and each customer’s particular requirements. That reduces exposure to errors.

2. Fast, direct communication

If something changes, the client is informed immediately. More importantly, we also suggest solutions. Our traffic coordinators know the client's workflow and act without delays or red tape.

3. Informed drivers = faster responses

Our drivers have both training and judgement. If something deviates from plan, they know what to do. This is possible thanks to constant training and clear communication with the operations team.

4. Internal support network

No one is left alone when something gets complicated. We reschedule deliveries, activate other vehicles or reorganize routes internally — so that the problem never reaches the client.

5. Commitment culture

Our team understands that the job isn't done when the issue is reported — it's done when it’s resolved. That mindset makes the difference.

The client receiving their goods on time often doesn’t know there was a delay, a last-minute change or a call behind the scenes to make it happen.

That, precisely, is what we call good service.
